Carifesta - the spiritual dimension

This page is intended to help those Carifesta visitors to Guyana who are interested in the spiritual or religious aspects of Carifesta and of Guyana.

While it is true that in terms of numbers the main religions of Guyana are Christianity, Hinduism and Islam it is also true that the Bahá'í Faith is well-established and recognised in Guyana and is one of the major religions of the world. See for example:

Baha'i children

The national Bahá'í body in Guyana was incorporated by Special Act of Parliament in 1976. The Faith has duly appointed and legally recognised marriage officers. For about the history see here.

Carifesta activities

Cultural activities relating to the religious and spiritual have been organised for three nights:

"...the Christian concert and Hindu night will be at the stadium on August 27 and 28 respectively, while the Muslim component will be at the National Park on August 23." According to the Guyana Chronicle of August 11th.
